El mapa
Xihe Map Poster & Print
Xihe is an urban area in northern Hubei province, in the hilly country between the Tongbai and Dabie mountain systems to the north and the plains of central Hubei to the south. From above, the settlement forms a compact centre of streets and residential blocks, surrounded by fields, ponds and wooded rises. The ground here is uneven, and roads bend around it.
The street pattern mixes older, closely packed blocks with newer straight avenues and larger building footprints, which is typical of towns that have grown quickly in recent decades. Streams and small reservoirs scattered across the countryside add soft shapes to the map. Main roads leave town in several directions, tying it to neighbouring towns in the region.
A Xihe map poster is a quiet portrait of a place that most people know through family or work rather than guidebooks. The drawing records the pattern of streets, the water and the surrounding countryside as they are. For anyone from here, that layout is familiar; for others it shows a small city in the Chinese interior.

Ponds and streams
Small bodies of water scatter across the surrounding farmland. In black and white they appear as soft, rounded shapes among the fields.
Radiating roads
Several main roads lead out of town into the hills. They give the composition a sense of direction and connect the centre to the edges of the frame.
