Yicheng is a county-level city in northwestern Hubei, under the administration of Xiangyang. It lies in the middle reaches of the Han River, one of the major tributaries of the Yangtze. The land is mostly level, with broad areas of farmland, so the town has spread out along roads and the riverbank without being hemmed in by hills.
The Han River is the defining feature of the map, a wide channel with sandbars and gentle curves. The urban core sits close to it. Newer districts extend outward in larger blocks with wide avenues, and the surrounding countryside is divided into regular fields cut by irrigation channels.
