关于地图
Alcobaça Map Poster & Print
Alcobaça lies inland from the Atlantic coast in Portugal's Leiria district, in a green valley where the Alcoa and Baça rivers meet. Local tradition takes the town's name from these two rivers. On a map, their courses form a loose fork through the centre. The older streets gather close to the water, and newer neighbourhoods spread across the gentler slopes around them.
The town is organised around the Monastery of Santa Maria de Alcobaça, founded in the twelfth century and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its church and cloisters fill a large rectangular block that faces a wide square, and it dwarfs everything nearby. Inside are the carved tombs of King Pedro I and Inês de Castro, the subject of one of Portugal's best-known love stories. On a hill above town stand the remains of a castle.
An Alcobaça map poster captures a plan in which one building sets the scale for all the others. The monastery's long nave and regular courtyards stand out in sharp geometry against the irregular lanes of the old town. The two rivers thread quietly past its walls. The surrounding orchard country, known for its apples, shows as a looser pattern of roads and fields at the edges of the frame.

Alcoa and Baça rivers
Two narrow rivers wind through the valley and join near the centre. Their curving lines run between the streets of the historic core.
Castle hill
Above the town, the ruined castle's hilltop lets the street pattern thin out into winding lanes that climb and loop around the slope.
