Alcoy Map Poster & Print
Alcoy, or Alcoi in Valencian, is an inland town in the province of Alicante, surrounded by the mountains of the Sierra de Mariola and the Font Roja. It grew as an early industrial centre, with textile and paper mills powered by the water of the rivers around it. It is also known across Spain for its Moors and Christians festival, held every April.
The shape of the town is set by its rivers. The old centre sits on a spur of land where the Molinar and Barxell join the Serpis, and steep ravines drop away on several sides. To reach the newer districts, the town built tall bridges across the gorges, and these show clearly on the map.
An Alcoy map poster captures this unusual layout: a dense core on high ground, deep river channels around it and bridges spanning the gaps. It is one of the more dramatic small-town plans in Spain.
