Angeles City Map Poster & Print
Angeles City lies in Pampanga on the central plain of Luzon, with Mount Pinatubo to the west. From above, the map splits into two very different halves. The old town is a compact, irregular grid around the church and market. To the northwest, Clark, formerly a United States air base, fills a large area with long runways, wide roads and spacious, planned blocks.
Clark was handed over to the Philippines in 1991, the same year Mount Pinatubo erupted and covered the region in ash and mudflows. Rivers carrying volcanic sediment cross the city, and the Abacan runs through the centre. Its channel is one of the few curved lines in the city's otherwise angular layout.
An Angeles City map poster also marks a place with a strong food reputation. Pampanga is often called the culinary capital of the Philippines, and sisig is widely credited to Angeles. On the map, the tight streets of the centre contrast with Clark's sweeping runway lines, and the MacArthur Highway runs through both at a slant.
