Oasis core
Houses and streets gather tightly in a small area. They leave a dense mark in the middle of the print, where life in the desert is concentrated.

关于地图
Aoulef Map Poster & Print
Aoulef is an oasis town in Adrar province in the Algerian Sahara, part of the Tidikelt region between the Touat and In Salah. On the map it looks exactly like what it is: a small, concentrated patch of streets and gardens surrounded by open desert on every side, with only a few long roads leading away across the sand and gravel.
The oases of this part of the Sahara depend on foggaras, underground channels dug over centuries to carry groundwater by gravity to the palm groves. Their lines of access shafts can stretch for kilometres across the desert surface. Around the town, the date gardens form irregular plots divided by walls and paths, and on paper they read as a finely broken texture beside the houses.
An Aoulef map poster is mostly space, and that is its strength. The few lines it holds (the streets of the older quarters, the garden paths and the desert roads) gain a striking clarity against the blank ground. It is a map for people from the oasis, for Sahara travellers, and for anyone who likes extreme minimalism.

Palm gardens
Date palm plots spread beside the settlement, cut into irregular parcels by walls and paths. They give the map its finest and most intricate texture.
Desert roads
Long, nearly straight roads leave the oasis toward other settlements of the Tidikelt and Touat, single lines crossing the empty plain.
