Aryanah Map Poster & Print
Aryanah, often written Ariana, lies just north of central Tunis and is the seat of its own governorate. From above, it has a small, dense historic core of narrow streets and courtyard houses, surrounded by much larger modern districts with wider roads and apartment blocks. The city merges with the rest of Greater Tunis to the south, and more open ground lies to the north.
Ariana has long been associated with gardens and roses, and it holds a well-known annual rose festival. Its landscape still includes orchards and green spaces between built-up areas. To the east, the Sebkhet Ariana salt flat forms a large, pale open area, and Tunis-Carthage airport lies not far to the south-east.
An Aryanah map poster shows the contrast between the tight lanes of the old centre and the looser, newer grid around it, with the edge of the sebkha to the east. It is a compact, readable city plan that also shows how the Tunis metropolitan area has grown northward.
