Assebroek Map Poster & Print
Assebroek is part of the city of Bruges. It was a separate municipality until the Belgian municipal mergers of the 1970s joined it to the city. It lies to the south-east of the historic centre, just outside the water-filled ring that surrounds the medieval core. On a map, it appears as a band of residential streets, small squares and green spaces.
The contrast with its famous neighbour is the most interesting thing about the drawing. Inside the ring, streets curve along old canals and tight medieval plots. Assebroek is laid out more openly, with longer streets, twentieth-century housing and parks, and it fades into fields and woods further out.
