Badhoevedorp Map Poster & Print
Badhoevedorp lies in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, just west of Amsterdam and next to Schiphol Airport. It sits on the edge of the Haarlemmermeer polder, a former lake drained in the nineteenth century, and the map shows that heritage in its straight lines, canals and flat, orderly landscape. The village takes its name from the Badhoeve, a farm that once stood here.
The Ringvaart, the canal that encircles the polder, runs along one side of the village and forms a firm boundary. For many years the A9 motorway ran straight through Badhoevedorp. It was later moved to a new route around the village, and the old corridor has been redeveloped, a change visible in the street pattern.
