Badou Map Poster & Print
Badou lies in Togo's Plateaux Region, near the border with Ghana, in some of the country's most wooded and hilly land. On a map, the streets are not arranged in a strict grid. They bend and branch as the ground rises and falls, and the roads out of town follow valleys rather than straight lines.
The surrounding area is known for its forested hills and for the Akloa waterfall, which people visit on foot from the town. The climate and terrain have long supported cocoa and coffee growing. For a mapmaker, this means a small built core surrounded by winding tracks that disappear into green country.
A Badou map poster works because of that contrast between the settled centre and the loose, organic lines around it. In black and white, the relief can only be read through the roads, and they are expressive enough to suggest it. The print has a clear heart and plenty of movement at the edges.
