Baildon Map Poster & Print
Baildon stands on high ground in West Yorkshire, north of Shipley and above the valley of the River Aire. On a map the town is a cluster of winding streets that follow the slope, with rows of houses stepping up the hillside. To the north the street pattern ends abruptly at Baildon Moor, a broad open area crossed only by a few lanes and footpaths.
Across the river lies Saltaire, the model village built for mill workers and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the two places share the same stretch of valley. Baildon Moor itself is known for prehistoric carved rocks with cup-and-ring marks, one of several such sites on the Yorkshire moors.
