Besuki is a coastal town in Situbondo Regency on the northern shore of East Java, facing the Madura Strait. From above, it lies along the main coastal road that runs the length of Java's north coast. The town stretches parallel to the shore, and a coastline of beaches, fishponds and small river mouths marks its northern edge.
The town has a long history as a local administrative centre. Behind it, the land rises gradually toward the volcanic highlands of the eastern tip of Java. The map moves from dense housing near the road and coast to rice fields and plantations further south.
