River valley setting
Bicholim lies on low ground in the Mandovi basin. The watercourse and the flat land beside it shape the town's outline and the roads leading out of the valley.

关于地图
Bicholim Map Poster & Print
Bicholim is the headquarters of a taluka in North Goa, well inland from the beaches most visitors know. On a map the town sits in a valley in the Mandovi river basin, with its streets gathered around a small commercial centre. Beyond that the pattern loosens into scattered settlements, fields and low, wooded hills of laterite.
The surrounding taluka has long been linked to iron-ore mining, one of Goa's major industries for decades, and large parts of the nearby hills show the mark of open-cast workings. The taluka also includes Mayem Lake, a freshwater lake popular with day visitors. Together these give the wider map a mix of water, worked land and green slopes.
A Bicholim map poster shows a side of Goa that rarely appears on postcards: an inland market town with rivers, paddy land and hills instead of a coastline. In black and white the watercourses and field boundaries frame the modest street network and give it a strong setting, with open space all around the town.

Mining landscape
The hills around the town carry the traces of decades of iron-ore extraction. At wider scales these show as irregular open areas and haul roads among the greenery.
Mayem Lake
This freshwater lake, a short distance from town within the taluka, adds a smooth, rounded shape to a wider map and is a familiar outing for local families.
