Bidur, often spelled Bidor, sits in southern Perak on the western side of the Malay Peninsula, between the foothills of the main mountain range and the coastal lowlands. It grew as a stop on the old trunk road between Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur, and that history still shows on the map: a main road runs through the middle, with most of the town packed along it.
Away from the centre, the street pattern gives way to plantation land, old mining ponds and scattered kampung lanes. Water bodies appear as irregular shapes among the greenery. They are common in this part of Perak, where tin mining once reshaped the ground. The compact core and the loose, varied surroundings make for a balanced composition.
