Boadilla del Monte lies just west of Madrid, across the M-40 and M-50 ring roads. On a map it is mostly low-density housing: curving streets, gated developments and generous plots, surrounded by open land and the Monte de Boadilla, a large protected area of holm oak and pine.
The historic core is small and grouped around the Palacio del Infante Don Luis, an eighteenth-century palace designed by Ventura Rodríguez for a brother of King Charles III. Its terraced gardens face the woodland. The town is also home to the vast headquarters campus of Banco Santander, one of the largest corporate sites in Europe.
