Sobradinho shoreline
The reservoir's long, irregular shore wraps around the town. Its inlets and points create a coastline-like edge that gives the poster its main visual drama.

关于地图
Casa Nova Map Poster & Print
Casa Nova sits in northern Bahia, on the edge of the Sobradinho reservoir, one of the largest artificial lakes in Brazil, formed by damming the São Francisco River. When the reservoir filled in the late 1970s, the original town was flooded and a new one was built on higher ground. The regular, planned layout of the present town reflects that relocation.
The municipality stretches far across the semi-arid sertão, where caatinga scrub covers most of the land. On a map, that open interior is interrupted by long, straight roads and the rectangular outlines of irrigated farms. The area is part of the São Francisco Valley wine region, where vineyards thrive in a climate few would expect to suit grapes.
The waterline is the most dramatic element of a Casa Nova map poster. The reservoir's shore is ragged and indented, with inlets reaching into the land, so the edge between blank water and fine street lines feels almost like a coastline. It is a portrait of a town remade by a great river and an engineering project.

Relocated grid
Built after the old town disappeared under the water, the current centre has a planned, orderly street pattern that stands out against the surrounding open land.
Irrigated plots
Rectangular farm parcels, some of them vineyards, sit within the dry scrub. They add neat geometric blocks to an otherwise sparse, open landscape.

为什么选 Casa Nova
一张有意义的地图
Casa Nova's story, a town moved to make way for a lake, gives its map unusual depth. For residents and families who remember the old town, or for anyone drawn to the São Francisco, the image carries both place and memory.
Change the title, subtitle and coordinates line to suit your story, perhaps a year or a family name. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 digital files print at 300 DPI, and framed prints ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
