Cascavel Map Poster & Print
Cascavel sits on a high plateau in western Paraná, and its plan reads as open and orderly. Broad avenues cross the centre in long straight lines, and the blocks between them are regular and generous. Toward the edges the grid meets farmland, and the rectangles of fields continue the same geometry as the streets.
The city grew quickly in the twentieth century as a service centre for one of Brazil's most productive grain regions. Soy and corn from the surrounding plains move through it, and its main avenues are built wide to take that traffic. The name is the Portuguese word for rattlesnake, taken from a story connected to the early settlement.
On a Cascavel map poster the centre is the densest area, where parallel streets sit closest together. Further out the pattern breaks into newer neighbourhoods with curving roads and cul-de-sacs. Green areas and small lakes scattered through the city show up as soft, irregular shapes against the straight lines around them.
