Cheb Map Poster & Print
Cheb lies in the far west of the Czech Republic, close to the Bavarian border, on the banks of the Ohře river. The old town sits on higher ground above the water. On the map, its elongated central square stands out: a long, gently sloping space lined by close-packed burgher houses. The streets around it follow a compact medieval layout.
At the northwestern edge of the old town, Cheb Castle rises on a rock above the river. It was built as an imperial palace in the time of Frederick Barbarossa, and its Black Tower is still a landmark. The town is also known for Špalíček, a cluster of timber-framed houses in the square, and as the place where Albrecht von Wallenstein was murdered in 1634.
A Cheb map poster shows centuries of history in a single outline. The river curves below the castle rock, the old town holds its dense core and newer districts spread outward toward the railway and the hills. In black and white, the long market square is the element the eye returns to.
