Clydebank Map Poster & Print
Clydebank lies on the north bank of the River Clyde, just west of Glasgow. On a map the town is framed by water and hills: the Clyde to the south, the Forth and Clyde Canal running through its centre and the Kilpatrick Hills rising to the north. Between them, streets climb in rows from the river toward higher ground.
The town grew with its industries. The John Brown shipyard built some of the most famous ships of the twentieth century, including the Queen Mary and the QE2, and the Titan crane still stands on the former yard. Singer's huge sewing machine factory was also here. In 1941 the Clydebank Blitz destroyed much of the town, and many streets were rebuilt afterwards.
