Itapecuru River
The river winds past the town in wide curves, the strongest natural line on the map and the reason the town grew where it did.

关于地图
Codó Map Poster & Print
Codó lies in the interior of Maranhão in northeastern Brazil, on the Itapecuru River. From above, the river curves through the landscape, and the town spreads along its bank, with the older streets close to the water and newer neighbourhoods extending inland. Around it, the land opens out into farmland, pasture and patches of woodland.
The town is a regional centre for the surrounding rural area, and the river has long shaped its life and trade. Codó is also widely known in Brazil for its Afro-Brazilian religious traditions, particularly Terecô, which are closely associated with the town and its history.
A Codó map poster shows a river town in simple, readable lines. The Itapecuru draws a long curve across the frame, the grid of streets presses up against it, and the surrounding land stays largely empty. In black and white, the relationship between the river and the town becomes the main subject, clear and uncluttered.
