Kaloum grid
The old centre at the tip of the peninsula is laid out in regular blocks, forming a neat pattern that contrasts with the looser districts further up the coast.

关于地图
Conakry Map Poster & Print
Conakry has one of the most distinctive outlines of any African capital. The original town was built on Tombo Island at the tip of the Kaloum peninsula, now joined to the mainland, and the urban area stretches back to the north-east in a long, narrow band between the sea and the mangroves. On the map the city looks almost like a finger pointing into the Atlantic.
Kaloum, the old administrative centre at the tip, has a regular grid of streets with the port and government buildings. Beyond it, districts such as Dixinn, Ratoma and Matoto fill the peninsula in a looser pattern, served by a few main roads running its length. Offshore lie the Îles de Los, a small group of islands visible from the waterfront.
A Conakry map poster emphasises this unusual shape. The sea surrounds the southern tip on three sides, the grid of Kaloum sits neatly at its end, and the long peninsula stretches back towards the mainland. In black and white the coastline becomes the strongest line on the sheet, with the islands scattered like punctuation in open water.

Peninsula corridor
The city runs along a narrow strip of land, with a few long roads carrying traffic from the tip towards the mainland and neighbourhoods packed on either side.
Îles de Los
The island group off the coast adds small, separate shapes to the open water, giving the composition a sense of distance and scale beyond the city.

为什么选 Conakry
一张有意义的地图
Conakry is a city many Guineans abroad remember through its sea air and crowded roads, and its outline makes it instantly recognisable. A map of it can mark a birthplace, a family home or the city where a new chapter began.
Choose a title and subtitle, perhaps a name and a date, and adjust the coordinates line to a place that matters. Select Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, in six print sizes as files or a printed poster.
