Coronel Map Poster
Coronel lies on the coast of Chile's Biobío Region, south of Concepción, where the shoreline bends around the Gulf of Arauco. From above, the town stretches along the bay in a narrow band, with port facilities on the water and residential streets climbing toward the low hills behind. Roads link it north to the Concepción metropolitan area and south to neighbouring Lota.
For much of its history Coronel was a coal town. Mines along this coast, some running beneath the sea, supplied fuel for ships and industry, and mining communities grew up around them until the pits closed in the late twentieth century. Today its port is an important cargo harbour for the region, and the waterfront remains the defining edge of the map.
A Coronel map poster shows the relationship between land and water clearly. The curved bay runs along one side, piers and port areas push into the sea, and the streets bend to follow the coast. It is an unpretentious, working landscape, and in black and white its lines read with real clarity.
