关于地图
Ćuprija Map Poster & Print
Ćuprija lies in central Serbia on the Great Morava river, in the fertile Morava valley. Its name comes from the Turkish word for bridge, a reminder that the town has long been a crossing point on the route through the valley. The site was also occupied in Roman times as Horreum Margi.
On a map the river dominates. The Great Morava meanders through a wide floodplain, with old channels and oxbows visible around the town. Ćuprija's centre sits beside the river, with a mostly regular street pattern, and main roads and the railway follow the valley.
Nearby, in the hills to the east, stands Ravanica Monastery, founded by Prince Lazar in the fourteenth century. A Ćuprija map poster shows the town and river together, the crossing that gave the place both its name and its purpose.
