Dartford Map Poster & Print
Dartford sits in north-west Kent, where the small River Darent runs north to meet the Thames estuary. The historic town centre follows the old London-to-Canterbury road along the valley floor. From there, housing estates spread up the chalk slopes on either side. To the north, the land opens into marsh, industrial riverside and the wide curve of the Thames.
The map's defining structure is the Dartford Crossing, where the M25 crosses the Thames by tunnel and by the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge. Its approach roads and interchanges make a bold pattern east of town. Dartford station has its own place in music history: Mick Jagger and Keith Richards met on a platform there in 1961, a meeting that led to the Rolling Stones.
