Dera Murad Jamali lies on the Kachhi plain in eastern Balochistan, some of the flattest land in Pakistan. From above there are no hills or coastline to shape it. Its form comes from roads and water instead: the town stretches along a main highway, and the fields around it are divided by straight irrigation canals and field boundaries that run on toward the horizon.
It's the main town of Nasirabad District. Irrigation has turned the surrounding plain into productive farmland, and rice is one of its best-known crops. As a result the edges of the map are defined by agriculture more than by suburbs.
