The river Elz
The Elz flows out of the Black Forest and past the town on its way to the Rhine, drawing a soft line along the edge of the built-up area.

关于地图
Emmendingen Map Poster & Print
Emmendingen sits just north of Freiburg im Breisgau, where the flat Upper Rhine plain meets the western foothills of the Black Forest. On a map the old town forms a small, dense core near the river Elz, surrounded by later residential districts that spread across the valley floor and climb gently toward the hills to the east.
The main Rhine Valley railway runs through the town on its way between Freiburg and Offenburg, a strong straight line that the streets organise themselves around. To the east, above the town, stand the ruins of the Hochburg, one of the largest castle ruins in Baden, whose outline sits among fields and woodland.
Emmendingen also has a literary footnote: Goethe's sister Cornelia lived here with her husband and died in the town in 1777. An Emmendingen map poster brings together river, railway, old centre and hillside in a single, well-balanced frame.

Hochburg ruins
The extensive ruins of the Hochburg lie on a hill east of the centre. On the poster its access lanes and wooded surroundings mark the shift from town to countryside.
Rhine Valley railway
The main line between Freiburg and Offenburg runs straight through Emmendingen, a clear axis that divides the old town from the neighbourhoods to the west.

为什么选 Emmendingen
一张有意义的地图
Emmendingen is where many people live while working in Freiburg, and it is a hometown in its own right for others. Its small scale makes for a map where individual streets stay readable, so a family home or old school is easy to find.
