Eqlīd lies in the north of Fars Province, high in the Zagros Mountains. The town occupies a valley floor enclosed by bare ridges, and on a map its streets form a compact centre with newer districts extending along the main roads. Around them, orchards and fields make a green patchwork against the dry mountain slopes.
Because of its altitude, Eqlīd has cold winters and mild summers, unusual for a province better known for the heat around Shiraz. It is one of the higher towns in the province. An Eqlīd map poster shows how settlement, farmland and mountain meet here, with roads fanning across the valley and the town's edges fading gradually into orchards.
The town is the centre of Eqlīd County and a local hub for the surrounding villages. Its high valleys have long supported farming and herding. The area belongs to the upland country of northern Fars, where roads climb between ridges towards the neighbouring provinces. The map captures that sense of a settled basin among mountains.
