Eravur Town is in Batticaloa District, in Sri Lanka's Eastern Province, a short way north of Batticaloa. The region is low and flat, shaped by lagoons, sandbars and the Indian Ocean. Eravur sits on the landward side of this watery landscape. The main coastal road runs through it north toward Valaichchenai and Trincomalee.
The map shows a town that has grown along that road. Side streets step off at close intervals and dense housing fills the space between them. At the edges the pattern opens up into paddy fields, palm groves and the wet margins of the lagoon. The settlement reads as a darker cluster in a lighter, more open landscape.
