关于地图
Ermelo Map Poster & Print
Ermelo stands on the high, rolling grasslands of Mpumalanga, at around 1,700 metres. The town centre follows a wide, regular grid of long blocks typical of nineteenth-century settlements in the interior. Beyond it, newer townships and suburbs spread outward, each with its own street pattern.
It was founded in the 1880s and named after the town of Ermelo in the Netherlands. Several important national roads meet here, and it serves as a service centre for the coal mining and farming district around it. Railway lines also pass through, adding long straight lines to the map.
An Ermelo map poster shows a town defined by open space. The central grid is clean and generous, the townships sit a little way off, and the highways extend in several directions across the veld. Printed in black and white, the layout has a spare, graphic quality.
