Switchback roads
Access roads climb the massif in tight hairpins. They are the most striking lines on the map and show plainly how steep the terrain is.

关于地图
Fayfā’ Map Poster & Print
Fayfā’ is in the mountains of Jazan Region in south-western Saudi Arabia, close to the border with Yemen. There is no conventional town centre. Instead, houses and small clusters of buildings are spread along ridges and slopes, joined by roads that switch back and forth up the mountainside.
The district is known for its agricultural terraces, cut into the slopes over generations, and for growing coffee, fruit and grain in a climate much cooler and greener than the coast below. The contrast between these highlands and the flat Tihama plain is one of the sharpest in the region.
A Fayfā’ map poster looks very different from a city plan. Winding roads trace the contours, buildings are scattered along the high ground, and there are no blocks or grids. The result is an organic composition shaped almost entirely by the mountain.

Ridge-top settlement
Houses follow the crests and shoulders of the mountains in loose chains. There is no single centre, only a spread of small clusters.
Terraced slopes
Farming terraces step down the hillsides where coffee and other crops are grown. They explain why the buildings sit where they do.

为什么选 Fayfā’
一张有意义的地图
Fayfā’ appeals to people who know the Jazan highlands, and to anyone drawn to maps that show terrain rather than streets. Its winding roads make an unusual and quietly graphic print.
You can add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose among five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Download print-ready PNG and PDF files for $9, or order a matte poster shipped by a print partner.
