Contour-following roads
Streets curve with the hills and meet at angles set by the terrain, so the map reads almost like a drawing of the landscape itself.

关于地图
Fléron Map Poster & Print
Fléron is a municipality in the province of Liège, a short distance east of the city on the high ground that leads toward the Herve plateau. Like many places in the area, it grew with coal mining and industry, and its layout reflects a landscape of slopes and small valleys rather than a single planned centre.
From above, the streets rarely run straight for long. Roads follow the contours of the land, bending around hillsides and joining where the ground allows. Built-up areas stretch along the main routes toward Liège, while open fields and patches of woodland fill the spaces between them.
A Fléron map poster shows a place shaped by its topography. The curves and forks of the road network create a lively line drawing, very different from the orderly grids of flatter regions, and it looks particularly good in the Paper and Sand styles, which soften the lines.

Routes toward Liège
The main roads run west toward the city, with houses lined up along them, showing Fléron's close ties to the larger urban area.
Green gaps
Fields and woodland remain between built-up areas, leaving open space in the composition that balances the busier parts of the road network.
