Wyk harbour
The island’s only town sits on the southeast shore. Its harbour, ferry landing and seafront promenade give the coastline its densest detail.

关于地图
Föhr Map Poster & Print
Föhr is one of the North Frisian Islands off the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein. It is the second largest German island in the North Sea, after Sylt. It lies within the Wadden Sea, where tidal flats surround the land at low water. On a map it has a compact, softly rounded outline, set among the shallows between Amrum, Sylt and the mainland.
The island has two distinct landscapes. The south is higher, older ground called geest, where most villages sit in a line close to the coast. The north is flat marshland protected by dikes and crossed by drainage ditches. Wyk auf Föhr, the only town, is at the southeast corner around its harbour and ferry pier, with a promenade along the shore.
Roads link the villages in a loose network, and field boundaries give the northern marsh a fine, rectilinear texture. A Föhr map poster captures this balance between the settled south and the open, engineered north. The island is known for its seafaring past, when many islanders worked on whaling ships. It is also known for its Frisian language, which some residents still speak every day.

Northern marsh
Flat reclaimed land behind the dikes fills the northern half. Straight drainage channels and field lines divide it into a quiet, regular pattern.
Wadden shallows
Tidal flats and channels of the Wadden Sea surround the island. Neighbouring islands sit close enough to appear at the edges of the frame.

为什么选 Föhr
一张有意义的地图
Föhr is a place people return to year after year for family holidays, cycling and long walks on the dikes. A map of it becomes a record of those summers, and its rounded shape and village pattern are easy to recognise on a wall.
Use the title or subtitle for a family name, a holiday year or the village you stay in, and adjust the coordinates line. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand suits the island’s southern beaches.
