Frisco lies north of Dallas in Collin and Denton counties, and its map shows the pattern of fast suburban growth on flat Texas prairie. Wide arterial roads form a large grid roughly a mile apart, and within each square curving residential streets and cul-de-sacs fill the space. The Dallas North Tollway runs north through the city, crossing the Sam Rayburn Tollway, which marks a major commercial corridor.
One of the fastest-growing cities in the United States in recent decades, Frisco has become a centre for professional sport. The Dallas Cowboys' headquarters and training facility is at The Star, FC Dallas plays at Toyota Stadium, and the PGA of America moved its headquarters here, with championship golf courses at Fields Ranch. Parks, lakes and creeks run through many neighbourhoods.
