Galeras Map Poster & Print
Galeras is a municipality in the Sucre Department of northern Colombia, in the wide, low savannas of the Caribbean region. The land is flat and largely given over to cattle and farming. On the map the town forms a compact grid of streets around a central plaza, and the surrounding countryside opens up in every direction.
Streets in the centre follow a regular pattern of blocks, as in many towns founded in the Spanish colonial tradition. Toward the edges the grid loosens and gives way to rural roads that head across the plains to other towns in the savanna. Seasonal ponds and wetlands appear here and there in the lowland landscape.

Straight rural roads lead out across the flat grazing land toward neighbouring towns, giving the design long, calm lines that reach the edge of the frame.
