The Baro River
The Baro runs past the town in a broad band and is the main feature on the map. It also explains why the settlement grew where it did.

关于地图
Gambēla Map Poster & Print
Gambēla lies on the Baro River in the far west of Ethiopia, where the highlands drop into wide, low plains stretching toward South Sudan. The river decides the town's shape. Streets gather along its bank, the main roads follow its course, and the surrounding land is flat and open. From above, the curve of water is the first thing you see.
The town has an unusual past. In the early twentieth century a riverside site here was leased to Anglo-Egyptian Sudan as a trading port. In the rainy season, steamers could travel up the Baro from the Nile system. That link to the river is still visible on the map, where the town hugs the water instead of spreading evenly.
A Gambēla map poster shows a regional capital in one of Ethiopia's least-mapped landscapes. The region is also known for Gambela National Park and its seasonal wetlands. On the print, the town appears as a compact grid of streets beside a strong river line, with open land all around. The result is simple, and it clearly belongs to this place.

Riverside streets
The densest streets sit close to the bank and thin out as they move inland. This gives the town a lopsided, river-facing shape.
Open lowlands
Flat land extends in every direction beyond the built area. In black and white, the space makes the town and river read clearly.
