Godfrey Map Poster & Print
Godfrey sits just north of Alton in Madison County, Illinois, near the point where the Illinois River joins the Mississippi. From above it is not a compact town but a broad, green village: curving residential roads, wooded ravines cut into the bluffs, and larger parcels of open land between neighbourhoods.
The village takes its name from Benjamin Godfrey, a sea captain who founded the Monticello Female Seminary here in the nineteenth century. That campus is now home to Lewis and Clark Community College. Along the river, the Great River Road follows the base of the limestone bluffs.
A Godfrey map poster captures this looser, more rural suburban pattern. Streets follow the ridges and valleys instead of a grid, and the river provides a strong edge along one side. It is an elegant choice for residents, college alumni and anyone who knows the drive along the bluffs.
