Hastings Map Poster & Print
Hastings lies on the East Sussex coast, facing the English Channel. From above, the most distinctive feature is the Old Town, a narrow wedge of streets packed into the valley between West Hill and East Hill. To the west, the Victorian seafront runs in a long straight line toward St Leonards-on-Sea, while the newer town spreads inland over the hills.
The town's name is known worldwide from the Battle of Hastings in 1066, although the battle itself was fought a few miles inland, where the town of Battle now stands. Hastings still has one of the largest beach-launched fishing fleets in Europe, and the tall black net huts on the Stade are among its best-known sights. Two cliff railways climb the hills above the Old Town.
A Hastings map poster brings together the ruined castle on West Hill, the pier, the Old Town and the open green of East Hill. The coastline forms a strong baseline, and the hills create gaps that give the whole composition a clear shape.

A continuous promenade runs west from the pier toward St Leonards. It forms the long lower edge of the map, following the Channel coast.
East Hill
Open grassland and cliffs rise east of the Old Town. On the map it appears as a wide empty space, framing the town from that side.
