Hayward Map Poster & Print
Hayward sits on the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay, and its map moves in clear bands from west to east. Along the water lie salt marshes, ponds and shoreline trails. Inland comes a wide, flat grid of residential streets, freeways and industrial areas. Further east the land rises into the hills, where streets begin to curve with the contours.
The San Mateo–Hayward Bridge runs from the city's shoreline across the bay, one of the longest bridges in the area. The Hayward Fault passes directly through the city, and its slow creep has visibly shifted curbs and structures, making the town a common stop for geologists. California State University, East Bay, stands on the hills overlooking the flatlands.
