Valo Grande
The canal connecting the Ribeira river to the lagoon has widened far beyond its original size, and on the map it appears as a broad channel cutting past the town.

关于地图
Iguape Map Poster & Print
Iguape lies on the southern coast of São Paulo state, facing the long barrier island of Ilha Comprida across a narrow channel known as the Mar Pequeno. Founded in the first half of the sixteenth century, it is among the oldest towns in Brazil. Its historic centre, with low colonial houses and a large square, sits near the water and remains the heart of the street map.
The town is known for the Basilica of Bom Jesus de Iguape, a major pilgrimage destination each August. Its landscape was also reshaped by the Valo Grande, a canal dug in the nineteenth century to link the Ribeira de Iguape river with the lagoon. Erosion widened it dramatically over the decades, altering the estuary and the fortunes of the old river port.
An Iguape map poster brings together water in several forms: the lagoon channel, the broad Valo Grande, the curving river and the long strip of Ilha Comprida beyond. The compact colonial grid sits among them, giving the composition a clear focal point surrounded by open, shifting shorelines.

Mar Pequeno
A narrow, sheltered channel separates Iguape from Ilha Comprida, and the bridge across it links the old town with the beaches of the barrier island.
Historic centre
The colonial core around the basilica and main square is small and compact, with a regular grid of streets that forms the clearest cluster on the poster.
