Imsil Map Poster & Print
Imsil is the seat of a county in the uplands of North Jeolla, where the headwaters of the Seomjin River begin to gather. The town sits in a valley among steep, forested hills. On the map it appears as a compact cluster of streets on level ground, with thin roads following the stream valleys out toward outlying villages.
Imsil is well known across Korea for its cheese. Dairy farming here began in the 1960s through the work of a Belgian priest, and the county's name is now closely linked to it. That story fits the landscape on the map, where the farmland and pasture tucked into the valleys matter more than any urban sprawl.
