Estate road network
Long, straight roads run out from the factory area across the plantation. They divide the land into large, regular sections that are easy to read on the map.

关于地图
Kakira Map Poster & Print
Kakira is in Uganda's Eastern Region, a short distance east of Jinja and not far from the northern shore of Lake Victoria. Its identity is tied to the Kakira sugar works, one of the country's largest sugar producers. The town grew up around the estate, and the map reflects this directly.
From above, the factory complex and its associated housing form a compact settled area. Estate roads extend from it in long straight lines. Around this, cane fields cover the land in large rectangular blocks, separated by tracks and drainage lines. Wherever the land has been left alone, the pattern is interrupted by patches of woodland and wetland.
A Kakira map poster is a portrait of a working landscape. Here the geometry comes from agriculture rather than from a city plan. The repeating field blocks give the print a steady rhythm, and the settlement at the centre anchors it. The result looks orderly and strongly tied to a single industry.

Cane field blocks
Sugarcane covers much of the surrounding land in big rectangular parcels. This gives the map a repeating pattern that is clearly agricultural rather than urban.
Factory settlement
The sugar works and the housing around it form the densest part of the map. This is the point from which the rest of the estate is organised.

为什么选 Kakira
一张有意义的地图
The poster suits people who worked on the estate, grew up in its housing, or have family in the Jinja area. It is a way to remember a place that is defined by the work done there.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, and add a meaningful date. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand gives the field pattern a soft, warm tone.
