Kalmthout Map Poster & Print
Kalmthout lies in the north of Antwerp province, close to the Dutch border. Its landscape is sandy, wooded and quiet, and much of the land around it is protected. North of the village lies the Kalmthoutse Heide, a large expanse of heath, dunes, fens and pine woods that forms part of a cross-border park extending into the Netherlands.
The village itself spreads out along roads rather than around a single dense centre, with villa neighbourhoods set among trees and streets that curve gently through the woodland. A railway line runs through, linking Kalmthout to Antwerp. The village is also known for its arboretum, a historic tree garden that draws visitors in every season.
