The Bhagirathi
The river forms the eastern edge of the town. Its width and slow curve give the map a strong natural border, with ghats stepping down to the water.

关于地图
Kālna Map Poster & Print
Kālna, also known as Ambika Kalna, lies in the Purba Bardhaman district of West Bengal, on the western bank of the Bhagirathi-Hooghly. On a map the river is the dominant line. It is broad and gently curving, with the town spread along it. Narrow lanes lead down to the ghats. Behind them, the streets grow looser and give way to fields and ponds, as in much of the lower Gangetic plain.
The town is known for its terracotta temples, built largely under the patronage of the Bardhaman rulers. The best known is a group of 108 Shiva temples arranged in two concentric circles. Its outline is geometric in a way that is rare in any townscape. Several other brick temples, decorated with carved terracotta panels, stand in walled compounds near the old centre.
A Kālna map poster turns this river setting into a simple composition. The wide band of water sits on one side, a tight cluster of lanes and temple compounds lies near the bank, and small water tanks are scattered through the town. In black and white, the ponds and the river show up as clear shapes, and the ring of temples becomes a small detail worth looking for.

Ring of 108 temples
The Shiva temples are set in two concentric circles. From above, the site forms one of the most distinctive small geometries in Bengal.
Tanks and ponds
Many water tanks are spread among the lanes and gardens. On the poster they appear as small, clean shapes within the street pattern.
