Winding roads
The main roads curve along ridges and valleys instead of running straight. They create a flowing network that gives the map its organic character.

关于地图
Kanhirode Map Poster & Print
Kanhirode is in Kannur district in northern Kerala, a short way inland from the coast. It has no sharply defined centre. From above, it looks the way many Kerala settlements do: houses spread along winding roads, dense tree cover between them, and small clusters of shops and public buildings at the junctions. The terrain is gently hilly, with low laterite ridges and shallow valleys.
The area is residential and semi-rural, closely linked to Kannur town for work, schooling and trade. Like much of the Malabar coast, its landscape is shaped by heavy monsoon rains, and paddy fields, streams and plantations fill the low ground between the housing.
A Kanhirode map poster captures that dispersed pattern. It has no grid and no single core, only a fine, branching network of roads and lanes that follows the land. In black and white, the lines look almost like the veins of a leaf, a gentle and unusual image that feels very specific to this part of India.

Dispersed housing
Homes line the roads and lanes rather than clustering in one centre. The result is a continuous, evenly spread settlement pattern.
Valleys and streams
Small streams and low-lying fields run between the higher ground. They leave gaps in the road network that give the composition breathing room.

为什么选 Kanhirode
一张有意义的地图
Kanhirode is home for many families who now live in the Gulf, in other Indian cities or further away. A map of its roads can say more about home than a photograph.
Personalise the title, for example in Malayalam or with a family name, then add a subtitle and a date or coordinates. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files cost $9, and printed posters ship from partners in over 30 countries.
