Karlova Ves is a borough of Bratislava, west of the Old Town, stretching from the left bank of the Danube up toward the forested slopes at the southern end of the Little Carpathians. On a map it combines several distinct patterns: an older village core near the river, large housing estates on the hillside, and green areas along its edges.
The Mlynská dolina valley, home to a large campus of Comenius University and student residences, lies within the borough. On a map it appears as a cluster of large buildings and paths set apart from the residential grid. Dlhé diely, a housing estate on the higher ground, forms a separate, geometric block of towers and access roads.
