Contour-following streets
The town's streets bend and step along the slopes rather than running straight. This gives the centre a compact, organic shape that is unusual for a Venezuelan grid town.

关于地图
La Azulita Map Poster & Print
La Azulita sits in the state of Mérida in western Venezuela, on the northern slopes of the Andes where the mountains drop toward the lowlands around Lake Maracaibo. The town lies at a moderate altitude with a mild, humid climate. From above, its streets do not form a regular grid. They bend and step with the terrain, and the town centre fits onto whatever flatter ground the slope allows.
The countryside is steep, green and cut by streams and ravines. It is known for coffee growing, cloud forest and birdlife, and the area attracts visitors who come for the waterfalls and the cool air. Winding mountain roads link the town to Mérida and the valleys below.
A La Azulita map poster is defined by its relief. The roads zigzag and loop, streams run downhill in deep folds, and the town is a small, dense knot set within a very irregular landscape. Few places of this size produce such an expressive line drawing, because every street has to reckon with the mountain.

Switchback roads
Mountain roads approach the town in tight curves and hairpins. On the poster they appear as expressive, looping lines across the hillsides.
Ravines and streams
Water runs down the Andean slopes in deep folds that cut through the coffee farms and forest. The streams add a fine, branching pattern around the town.
