Lāhījān Map Poster & Print
Lāhījān lies in Gilan Province, where the forested northern slopes of the Alborz meet the flat, green plain that runs down to the Caspian Sea. The map shows a compact centre on level ground, with a wooded hill rising at its southern edge and tea gardens spreading across the slopes beyond. To the north, rice fields and villages fill the lowland.
The town is known as the home of Iranian tea. In the early twentieth century Kashef ol-Saltaneh brought tea plants from India and established cultivation here, and his tomb stands beside the town's tea museum. Lāhījān is also known for the large lake at the foot of Sheytan Kuh, whose shoreline is one of the town's favourite places to walk.
