Lake Vesijärvi harbour
The city meets the lake at its southern shore. There the harbour, Sibelius Hall and waterfront paths form a soft edge below the central grid.

关于地图
Lahti Map Poster & Print
Lahti grew at the southern end of Lake Vesijärvi, on the edge of the Salpausselkä ridge, a long line of glacial sand and gravel that crosses southern Finland. On the map the city centre is a regular grid of blocks around the market square, and the lake harbour lies to the north. The ridge rises just west of the centre, crowned by ski jumps and wooded sports grounds.
Lahti is known worldwide as a winter sports city. The Salpausselkä ski jumps and stadium have hosted the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships seven times, more than any other place. On the lake shore, Sibelius Hall, a concert hall built largely of wood, is home to the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, and Alvar Aalto's Church of the Cross stands near the centre.
A Lahti map poster shows the city's three main elements at once: the lake and its harbour, the orderly central grid, and the ridge with its long curving roads and sports tracks. In black and white, the straight streets set against the natural shapes of water and moraine give the composition a calm, Nordic balance.

Salpausselkä ridge
The glacial ridge rises beside the centre, carrying the ski jumps, stadium and forest trails. Its long curving shape stands out clearly against the regular city blocks.
Central grid
Lahti's centre follows a simple rectangular plan around the market square, a clean pattern of blocks that reads crisply in monochrome.
