Leatherhead Map Poster & Print
Leatherhead grew up at a crossing of the River Mole, at the point where the river cuts through the chalk of the North Downs in what is known as the Mole Gap. The old town centre sits on rising ground east of the river. Its short high street and crossroads are compact, and they fan out into residential roads that climb gently away from the water.
The Town Bridge carries the road across the Mole on a long run of low arches. It is one of the most recognisable structures in the town. On a map the river forms a soft curving line along the western side, with meadows and open land beside it, while the M25 passes to the north. Wooded commons and downland frame the settlement on several sides.
A Leatherhead map poster shows the town between river and hills. The meander of the Mole sets the western edge. The historic centre forms a small dense knot, and the later suburbs spread outward in loops and cul-de-sacs typical of Surrey. The pattern is modest in scale but clear, and the river gives it a natural focal line.
