Linköping Map Poster & Print
Linköping lies on the Stångån river in Östergötland, southern Sweden, a short distance south of Lake Roxen. The old centre sits around the cathedral and the main square, with streets laid out in a fairly regular grid. Residential areas spread out from it in all directions, divided by green spaces, and the river winds past on the eastern side.
Linköping Cathedral, one of the largest medieval churches in Sweden, dominates the skyline. The city is closely associated with aviation: Saab builds aircraft here, including the Gripen fighter, and the Swedish Air Force Museum stands on the outskirts. Linköping University adds a large campus west of the centre, and the Kinda Canal begins in the city and runs south through a chain of lakes.
A Linköping map poster presents a clear composition: the compact historic core, the curve of the Stångån, the large open areas of the airfield and university, and a network of residential streets. The river flows north through the eastern side of the city toward Lake Roxen. Its gentle line separates the centre from the districts across the water.
Airfield and campus
The long runways of the Saab airfield and the broad layout of the university campus appear as large, geometric open spaces. They contrast with the dense residential streets.
